the unfolding of spring

Spring has definitely emerged in full force around us.  The trees are blooming and leafing, the grass is growing, and every day I discover another plant that has awaken from Winter's Sleep....yesterday it was little spearmint plants sprinkled beneath the raspberry canes (I forgot that I added those until I saw them!).  I enjoy walking through my gardens and seeing the whole unfolding of new life.  To see which plants have come through another winter, which have expanded, and search for those that maybe didn't survive the winter.   The lavender took a small beating, but seems to be recovering.  Sage is really taking off, the wild ginger is establishing itself and the lenten rose really took off- gracing us with beautiful, elegant deep purple flowers (while it has the word rose in the name it is not a rose bush).
